Gold theft

The arrested suspects have been identified as Sadat Ali, aged 30, hailing from Farangipet, and Hamid, aged 31, from Valachhil.

The incident occurred on March 11 when the iron shutter of the back door of Nebisa’s house was forcibly opened, allowing access for the thieves to search through eight cupboards in search of valuables.

Among the stolen items were cash amounting to Rs 1.08 lakh and 13 sovereigns of gold ornaments, including various pieces such as bangles, necklace chains, rings, and bracelets, collectively valued at Rs 5.20 lakh. The case was reported to the Kadaba police station by Nebisa’s son, Siddique.

Nebisa and her family had left for a private hospital in Mangaluru on March 7 for her daughter Naseema’s delivery, leaving the house securely locked. The theft was discovered by a relative, Faisa, on March 11 in the afternoon.

CCTV footage from a neighboring house captured a suspicious individual arriving in a car around 2:30 AM on March 11, visiting Nebisa’s residence, and leaving shortly afterward.

Following investigations, Uppinangady circle inspector Ravi B S, along with crime PSI Akshay Dhavgi from Kadaba police station and their team, conducted a spot inspection with the arrested suspects on March 25.

It was revealed that Hamid had informed the other suspects about the vacant house, having become familiar with it during a previous visit to cut wood. Utilizing this information, Hamid, along with the accomplices from Farangipet, planned the theft and executed it while remaining in the vehicle parked nearby.

Sadat Ali, one of the arrested suspects, has a criminal record with over 30 theft cases registered against him across various police stations.
