Mangaluru, Dec 23, 2016 : Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Gupta has said that a Railway Siding facility for the benefit of MRPL would be constructed at a cost of around Rs 82 crore. The work would be jointly taken up by the KRCL and MRPL.
Speaking to reporters here on December 22, Thursday he said tenders for the project would be invited in January and that the project would come up near the Thokur railway station of Konkan Railway Corporation.
Gupta informed that the proposed siding with automatic loading facility would facilitate loading products inside the MRPL premises itself. The length of the siding will be 1.5 km and the project is expected to be completed within 2 years, Gupta informed.
He also said the works of constructing half rake siding facilities at Thokur for the benefit of industries located at SEZ is already underway and added that the 330 meter long siding is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1.75 crore.
The proposal to double the Konkan Railway route at a cost of Rs 4,500 crore has got an in-principle approval from the Railway Ministry, Gupta informed.
