It has been found that Dr Khan was debarred from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal for six months in a criminal case. As per details available, Dr Khan had impersonated one Vijay Kumar in the National Board Examination for Medical Registration held in New Delhi and a probe in this regard had established the same, following which Dr Khan was debarred by the reputed Manipal University in 2009.

Soon, Dr Khan had moved Karnataka High Court, but before the proceedings could wind up the University had called back its order of suspension and thus Khan continued to study at the KMC.  Though a rape charge was also levelled against the same Dr Khan recently, the case too did not stand.  Dr Khan is the son in-law of former UP principal secretary Javeen Usman and it is said that the connection has been his shield for long.
