Mangaluru, June 10, 2017: A delegation led by social activist Vidya Dinker which met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru recently has complained that KIADB was acquiring agricultural land of farmers for MRPL expansion works by taking advantage of an old rule.
The delegation apprised the CM that though there is a High Court order against acquisition of land as per the old rule, the KIADB had issued notices for land acquisition under the old rules itsef.
For the purpose of MRPL expansion works the KIADB has decided to acquire 850 acres of land in Kuttettur and Permude villages though there is 900 acre land acquired for Jesco in Tokur village close to the MRPL area, the delegation pointed out. Instead of utilising this unused land, efforts are made to get land from farmers, the delegation complained. It also pointed out that as much as 750 acres of land already acquired by MRPL too is lying vacant.
The Chief Minister who heard the complaints of the delegation assured to look into the same and also recollected an earlier directive issued to the DC to submit a report on the unused land already acquired for industries. Stating that no report has been filed by the DC so far, the CM assured to enquire about the same with the office of the Chief Secretary.
