Mangalore, jULU 12, 2013 : District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has warned that officials themselves will be held responsible if there was any tardiness in the implementation of the several housing schemes meant for poor including the Basava Housing Scheme.
Presiding over the District tri-monthly review meet held at the ZP Auditorium on July 11, Thursday, Rai expressed his displeasure over the poor progress in the implementation of housing schemes in the district.
He also said a meeting will be held in the presence of the managing director of the Rajeev Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation to find solution to some technical problems in the Basava Housing Scheme.
The minister was also critical of the authorities for unsatisfactory progress in implementation of multi0village drinking water project.
On the confusion over NPR and Aadhaar cards in the district, the minister instructed the officials to provide suitable information to the people.
Giving information, Additional DC Dayanand said presently NPR process is underway in rural areas and added those who already have Aadhaar cards will have to go in for NPR too.
He said the government has been requested to seek a six months extension before making Aadhaar cards compulsory.
He also informed the meeting that a total of 17 persons have died due to rain related mishaps, while 16 cattle too have died. A total of 595 houses have been damaged and relief works are underway, he said.
MLA JR Lobo on this occasion requested the authorities to seek additional grants from the government for providing good compensation to the affected people. Even Mangalore North MLA Moidin Bava voiced the same opinion.
ZP CEO KN Vijayaprakash sought higher roads for improving condition of rural roads. ZP Chief Koragappa Naika, SP Abhishek Goel, Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar, MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde, DC N Prakash, and others were present.
