Justice Santosh Hegde inaugurates Philatelic Exhibition- Karnapex 2019

Mangaluru, Oct 12, 2019:  The four-day state level Philatelic Exhibition Karnapex 2019 was inaugurated at the TMA Pai Convention Centre here on October 12, Saturday by former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Hegde appreciated the initiative of the Department of Posts in organising the event. He said he was immensely pleased to participate in a function where special covers on great personalities like Girish Karnad, George Fernandes and Ananth Pai were released.

Vishwa Pavan Pati, Additional Director General, Department of Posts, said the exhibition was organised as part of the  National postal week celebrated from October 9 to 15. 

Michael B Fernandes, brother of former defence minister George Fernandes, who was also present, spoke nostalgically about his brother and his contribution towards making Konkan Railway  a reality.

Savio Mascarenhas,  Group Art Director of Amar Chitra Katha, spoke on the contributions of Ananth Pai  through Amar Chitra Katha  with the interests of children uppermost in his mind.

Vishva Pavan Pati released special covers on Ananth Pai and Girish Karnad, while special covers on George Fernandes were released by Michael B Fernandes.
 
Justice Santosh Hegde  released picture post cards, the divine heritage of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. He also released a book on special covers of Karnataka Volume III.

Karnataka Circle Post Master General Charles Lobo, Post Master General South Karnataka region Bengaluru Rajendra Kumar and others were present.

 Various events are lined up during the four day event.
