Jobs to be created for differently-abled persons: Udupi DC

Udupi, Aug 3,2017: Speaking after inaugurating a programme to distribute the equipment to the differently abled, organised by Udupi district unit of Red Cross in association with district administration and District Disabled Rehabilitation Centre,  Udupi DC Priyanka Mary Francis said that the district administration is keen on employing the differently abled in various sectors including the segregation of solid waste used for recycling and reuse.

Priyanka MaryThe Udupi DC said that the Self Help Groups (SHGs) will be employed on large scale to take up efficient solid waste management system in the district. She said that at the recent workshop taken up in the district under the guidance of Vellore Srinivasan, the SHGs are trained to segregate the solid waste which can be reused and recycled. She said that the work to segregate the solid waste would be considered and the disabled would be given priority. The job does not require any educational qualification and also the too much of manual effort. There is no retirement for the employees. Anyone who can do the segregation of the material that can be recycled and reused are eligible. She noted that the waste is generated every day and there would be no dearth of employment.

She urged the differently abled people to register in the district differently abled department and Red Cross. The work will be initiated ensuring all hygienic conditions, she added.  As many as 371 differently abled received equipment worth Rs 40 lakh under EIL and CSR Funds.
