Udupi, Feb 15, 2018: Shobha Karandlaje, MP, said that job prospects of the youth would improve considerably if they developed requisite skills. MP Karandlaje said that the kendra would provide three-month training in courses such as beauty and wellness; apparel; junior software developer; IT help desk attendant; computing and peripherals, networking and storage (hardware); BFSI banking, finance and insurance (business correspondent and business facilitator), and retail.

The beauty and wellness, apparel, and retails courses were open to any educational qualification. The BFSI, and the banking and insurance course was open for those who had B.Com and BBM degrees.

The junior software developer course was open for those who had done PUC, diploma or engineering courses. For the rest, the minimum requirement was ITI, PUC or diploma. More details regarding the courses could be had by calling: 9535040711/9591229792. After the completion of the three-month training, the kendra would also help trained youth get jobs.

The Union government had decided to open such Kaushal Kendras in all parliamentary constituencies. This would go a long way in not only providing skill-based training to the youth but also dealing with unemployment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised three and a half years ago to create two crore jobs. This was one way of fulfilling this promise.

It was for the first time in nearly seven decades that a separate Department for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship was created at the Centre.
