Jan Dan Yojana a success in DK ; formal declaration yet to be made : DC

Mangaluru, Nov 7, 2014 : Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim has said that the Prime Minister’s Jan Dan Yojana wherein Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts should be opened, has been a 100 per cent success in the district. He also informed that 4,39,733 accounts have been opened in the district under the scheme.

The formal declaration can be made after the Lead District Managers inform the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance in this regard, he added.

The Deputy Commissioner further informed that a total of 1.64 lakh accounts were opened after the Yojana was implemented. Banks presently are cross checking to ensure that all families have opened accounts and added that in can of any omission, those who have not opened the accounts should contact their nearest bank and Tahsildar.
