Bantwal, Sep 14,2017 : Three of the accused in the Karopady Gram Panchayat Vice President Abdul Jaleel murder case have moved the High Court challenging the invoking of the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KCOCA) against them.
The petition filed by the accused P Dinaker Shetty, Pradeep Shetty and Vinod Kumar Shetty came up before the single judge bench led by Justice Aravind Kumar which adjourned the hearing to September 21.
Earlier, government counsel Rachappa defended the invoking of KCOCA said as it was a serious offence involving underworld elements and pointed out that one of the accused Dinesh Shetty happened to be a relative of underworld don Vicky Shetty.
The FIR in the case mentions a total of 17 persons as the accused.
