Earlier, CPI (M) activists took out a procession upto the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Addressing the protest meet, Madhava, State Secretary of CPI (M) accused the BJP government in the state of being anti-people and added the government had also failed to fulfill the needs of the poor. Commenting on the ration card discrepancies, he said still there were several poor families that have not received the ration cards despite the government saying otherwise. He also warned of a severe protest if the state government failed to provide ration card to all eligible beneficiaries.

Muneer  Katipalla said the government which had promised to provide rice at lower rates for the poor, has so far not fulfilled the promise though several other states have done so.
