Bangalore, June 25, 2014 : KPCC General Secretary Ivan D’Souza’s hectic lobbying for the MLC seat has finally yielded result with the list of five names for nomination as MLCs sent to the Governor by Chief Minister, reportedly getting clearance.
Other names which figure in the list are Jayamala, Abdul Jabbar, Ahmed Sardagi and VS Ugrappa.
It is learnt the Chief Minister who had wanted to nominate labour leader Shantha Kumar, a Protestant leader rather than Ivan. But, he had to finally yield to lobbying in favour of Ivan.
In the biennial elections to Teachers and Graduates Constituencies held on June 20, the JD(S) won two seats while Congress and BJP have won one each. Sitting JD(S) member Puttanna and Chowda Reddy won from Bangalore Teachers’ and South-East Graduates constituencies respectively.
Sharanappa Mattur of the Congress and S V Sanknur of the BJP were elected from North-East Teachers’ and West Graduates constituencies, respectively.
