Ivan D’Souza flays government’s LPG verification process

Mangalore Today News Network

Ivan D’souzaMangalore, July 27, 2011: Ivan D’Souza, the secretary of the KPCC, has flayed the state government for its LPG verification process, which has distressed consumers and put them through a lot of inconvenience. He was addressing reporters at the office of the District Congress today. Stating that the central government has generously giving subsidy for LPG, he said that the state government has to supply the same facilities to the public.

He suggested that the state government take to task erring hotel and vehicle owners to eradicate illegal use of subsidized LPG instead of harassing common people. He also said that illegal connections and mistakes in documents is the fault of the department of food and civil supplies. Stating that consumers have always used subsidized LPG only for cooking, he said that the Congress is with the 1,21,678 Mangaloreans who are running from pillar to post to get their LPG status verified.

He said that the District Congress will stage a protest in front of the DC’s office by cooking food with firewood on Friday.

Meanwhile, U. T. Khader and Gopal Bhandary have submitted a memorandum to Shobha Karandlaje, the state energy and food and civil supplies minister, demanding effective regulation for LPG connections. Stating that issuing short deadlines to submit documents is causing a great deal of inconvenience to the people, the MLAs said that government orders and schemes should help people, not cause problems for them.
