Mangalore, Mar 20, 2014 : Lokayukta sleuths led by Umesh G Shet, DySP raided the PWD office in the city on March 19, Wednesday in the wake of complaints of alleged irregularities in the Bangalore-Jalsur State Highway 85 which passes through Sullia taluk.
There is information that the Lokayukta has filed cases against Ratnaker, Project Management Consultant Supervisor, Tammayya Gowda, Assistant Engineer from Mangalore PWD and Gopal Nayak, Executive Engineer. DySP Umesh Shet has also informed that several contractors who are involved in the irregularities have also been booked.
It has been gathered that though half of the Rs 22.05 crores sanctioned for the project of widening the 33.28 km stretch of road, was spent, the roads are in as is where is condition with no widening done. The contractors of the project are Sharif Construction and the work had started on November 15, 2012.
The Lokayukta team verified several documents at the office of Executive Engineer Gopal Nayak.
