Kasargod, Oct 23, 2014: Kasargod Police led by DySP T.P. Rajith have busted an inter-state theft racket with the arrest of as many as five persons at Kubanur near Uppala. A revolver, live bullets, three swords, iron rod, a Tata Sumo vehicle and two fake number plates were seized from the accused.
Those arrested are Abdul Azeez Sheikh (42) from Mannangui Uppala, Mrithyunjaya (32) from Mumbai, Bhaskar Belchappada (63), Jayasheela(36) from Karkala and Deenanath(59) from Kolkata.
Police said the six were arrested when they were trying to burgle a finance company at Anekallu located on the Karnataka-Kerala border after two previous failed attempts.
It is said Bhasker was the kingpin of the racket and all the five stayed in a rented house at Kubanur. The arrest was made after locals who had noticed the same Tata Sumo vehicle with different number plates on different occasions, informed the police.
Police said one of the accused Abdul Azeez had come into contact with Bhasker in a prison in Maharashtra and it was the former who had arranged the rented house for the gang.
