Mangaluru, May 14, 2017: Inna Ramamohan Rao, former director of the Department of Information and Broadcasting of Government of India passed away at New Delhi on May 13, Saturday. He was 83 and is survived by his daughter.
Rao who hailed from Inna in Dakshina Kannada had his early education in Karkala and completed his graduation from the Government College in Mangaluru.
He joined the Information Department and was initially the PRO of the Indian Army from 1959 to 1973. He later became the Chief Information Officer during the term of Rajeev Gandhi, VP Singh, Chandrashekhar and PV Narasimha Rao. He had also served as Director of Karnataka Bank and as Cultural Ambassador of India at Guyana in West Indies.
