IT raids: Congress stands in support of D K Shivkumar

Mangaluru, Aug 05, 2017 : Congress  leaders of Dakshina Kannada stands in support of energy minister D K Shiva Kumar, who came under the scanner of I-T department organised a meeting on August 05, Saturday.

 

 

After the meeting, Venkatesh told reporters that the context and timing of the I-T raids on Shivakumar’s premises clearly indicate that it is a political ploy. "Had they conducted raids 15 days ago, nobody would have questioned their intentions. However, conducting riads at a time when Congress MLAs from Gujarat are staying in Karnataka and Shiva Kumar is taking care of their stay here. Shivakumar is not a robber. If asked, he would have personally appeared before the I-T officials as a responsible citizen, who follows rules. There are many corrupt leaders in BJP in Karnataka. Let them conduct an inquiry into their illegal assets," Venkatesh lashed.


He said the raid on Shiva Kumar’s premises was a part of political strategy of BJP to defeat Ahmed Patel in the Rajya Sabha election. People of the state will teach a lesson to BJP in the next election, he said.


Moodbidri MLA K Abhaychandra Jain said the BJP is using the I-T department for their political gains. "They were calling CBI and IT department as Congress machinery when UPA was in power. Now they have been using these central agencies in a very dirty manner. For the first time in Indian history, I-T department is being used for political gains. The Prime Minister has started horse trading in his own home state," Jain said. Mangaluru City North MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava said the BJP leaders are hatching a conspiracy against the Congress in the state as the Siddaramaiah government has been giving a clean administration.
