INTACH and Kallacchu Prakashana organise "Mussanjeya Kavitegalu" Kannada Literary Meet

Mangaluru, Mar 25, 2024: The Mangaluru Chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) and Kallacchu Prakashana jointly organised ‘Mussanjeya Kavitegalu,’ a Kannada literary meet, as part of World Poetry Day, on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 4:30 PM at the Kodialguthu Centre for Art and Culture, G.G. Road, Ballalbagh, Mangaluru.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Reese Mathews, retired AGM of Canara Bank, inaugurated the meet by reciting Basavanna’s vachana and shed light on the richness of literature. Presiding over the function, Prof. B. Shivaram Shetty, former Project Director of the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada (CESCK), Mysuru, said, “Language is not only useful for reading and writing literature, but it also fills a social base with emotion and ushers in harmony.” He observed that traditionally, cultural identify was localized and different cultural expressions worked within their natural boundaries.  He called upon the people to resist any political effort to impose a single culture.

The programme included the reading and analysis of eminent Kannada poets of the 20th century. Litterateurs Dr. Meenakshi Ramachandra, Prof. P. Krishnamurthy, Dr. Saigeetha Hegde, Marcel D’souza, Basheer Ahmed Kinya, Diva Kokkada, Akshaya R. Shetty, Divakar Ballal, Shree Mudradi, and Yogish Malligemaadu participated in the sessions. Mahesh R. Nayak of Kallacchu Prakashana moderated the sessions in a unique manner. Subhas Chandra Basu, convener of the INTACH Mangaluru Chapter, welcomed the gathering. Vijayalakshmi Kateel sang the prayer song. The Art Kanara Trust extended cooperation to the programme.
