ICYM Kulshekar organizes centenary football tourney

Mangalore, Aug 31, 2011: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Kulshekar parish, for the first time in its history, will organize Cordel Church Centenary Football Cup 2011 on Aug 31 & September 1 on the grounds of Holy Cross Church, Kulsheker.

The tournament was inaugurated today by the deputy chairman of the NRI Forum of Karnataka `and blessed by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Dennis Prabhu, the vicar general of Mangalore Diocese.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, he said that there’s a need that each one of us becomes an instrument of peace in our surroundings. He also congratulated the organizers for their efforts and wished the players well.

Corporator Mr. K Bhasker said that these events give an opportunity for the youth to exhibit their talents.

Agnel Rodrigues, the MD of Agnel’s Ad-venture, recalled the contributions of the church at the international level and appreciated the parish priest for his remarkable contributions to the parish.

Rev. Fr. Valerian Pinto, the president of the programme, congratulated the ICYM unit of Kulshekar for its hard work and wished all the teams the best. He also thanked all the sponsors.

The dignitaries on the dais were Mr. Praveen Patrao, the vice president of the parish council; Sushil Noronha, the ICYM animator; Mr. Noel D’Souza; Mrs. Leena Lobo, the ICYM president; Mr. Francis Grippen, the convener of the event; and Mr. Sushan D’Souza.
