Mangaluru, Mar 26, 2016: According to Government Railway Police, K.K. Manoj Kumar (33), a native of Kanhangad, arrived at the railway station around 7.15 a.m. to catch the train to his home town.
The 33-year-old technician from the Indian Air Force fell down and died at the Mangaluru Central Railway Station on March 25, Friday.
He is said to have purchased a ticket at 7.30 a.m. and proceeded to the overbridge connecting platform nos. 1 and 2. He was carrying a heavy suitcase with him.
The police said Kumar collapsed just two steps before reaching platform No. 2. Onlookers and railway police rushed and immediately called the 108 ambulance.
The medical personnel came to the platform and found him dead. The police said Kumar was returning to his home town following a short break from duty in Nasik. He leaves behind his parents, his wife Nalini and a two-year-old son.
