Mangalore, Mar 4, 2014: Harsha Moily, entrepreneur and son of Union Minister Veerappa Moily whose nomination for the Congress Primaries to select DK candidate was rejected, has said that he came to Dakshina Kannada to work for the party and shoulder more responsibility.
Speaking to reporters at the Press Club on March 4, Tuesday, Harsha while stating that he accepted the decision with regard to his nomination for Party Primaries, at the same time said he strongly believed that he was an able candidate under the category of social service which he had opted for.
Harsha said the ‘non-acceptance’ of his application does not mean the end of his political career and added the developments have encouraged him to work harder and added he ‘would most surely campaign for the Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha elections.’
Highly appreciating the concept of Primaries introduced by the Congress party, Harsha described it as one of the best moves made by the Congress, particularly Party Vice President Rahul Gandhi in true principle of democracy.
However, he said “the guideline making the decision of the AICC General Secretary/secretary in-charge of INC Primary as final and binding with regard to the claims made by the candidates, defeats the very purpose of the Primaries.”
The process becomes non-transparent due to the unfair clause wherein discretionary power is in the hands of one individual,” Harsha contended thereby indirectly hinting that he was not happy with the rejection of his candidature.
He said though he was not ready to accept the stance of the election in-charge, he will accept it in the interests of the party.
Harsha was also thankful to the support extended to him by the party workers and said he would continue to strive for the development of the district.
On the controversy surrounding the Yettinahole Project, Harsha once again reiterated that the project would do no harm to Dakshina Kannada and that it would not give rise to water shortage. He further said “ The Chief minister as well as Union Minister Veerappa Moily have already made it clear that the Yettinahole Project is a drinking water project which would benefit many people.”
