Home Guards swimmers rescue youth in danger in Suratkal beach

Mangaluru, June 27,207 : A youngster from  Bengaluru who had come along with six of his friends from K R Pura in the capital,   was rescued  by the swimmers from the Home Guards Department  after he remained stuck on a rock amid the huge tidal waves at the Suratkal beach near NITK on June 26, Monday morning.


Suratkal beachIt is believed that he  and  another friend were busy taking selfies on the rock. When huge waves began lashing the rock, his friend managed to swim and reach ashore, while the lone youngster was stuck and cried for help.

Luckily, the Home Guard swimmers who happened to pass that way on hearing his cries, rescued him with the help of a rope.

Though there are warning boards cautioning youngsters against venturing into the waters many do not pay heed to it. Mangaluru Tahsildar Mahadevappa visited the beach  and lauded the Home Guard swimmers for their efforts to rescue the youngster.
