Mangaluru, Jan 02, 2014: Hindu organisations including the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bhajrangdal took out a protest rally in the city on January 1, Thursday from Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple to the DC office to condemn the alleged anti-Hindu policies of the state government. The Pejawar seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji led the protest.
Addressing the protestors near the DC office, the seer charged the government of curbing religious freedom. Referring to the proposed Bill aimed at taking control over Mutts and Temples, the seer said the government was forced to backtrack following widespread opposition. The Bill must be completely withdrawn, he demanded.
On the issue of conversion, he questioned why all the clamour now when none opened their mouths when Hindus were converted in the past.
MB Puranik, VHP leader urged Hindus to condemn the state government’s anti-Hindu policies in one voice.
Sri Rajashekarananda Swamiji of Gurpur Vajradehi Mutt, Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Shree Kshetra Odiyoor said, Sri Esha Vittaldasa Swamiji of Kemar Sandeepani Sadhana Ashram also spoke at the protest meet.
Several seers including Kolya Sri Ramananda Swamiji, Mohandas Swamiji of Manila Kshetra were among those present.
