Mangaluru, Jan 05, 2018: Several activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrangdal were arrested after they tried to stage a Rasta Roko agitation near the Besant Women’s College on January 5, Thursday to protest against the murder of Deepak Rao at Katipalla.
Addressing the protestors, VHP leader M B Puranik accused the state government of only appeasing the minorities. He also charged the government of pursuing an anti-Hindu policy which has led to spurt in murders of Hindu activists.
The protestors also raised slogans against the state government. They were later arrested by Barke Police. Those detained include Jagadish Shenava, Sharan Pumpwell and MB Puranik apart from hundreds of Hindu activists. All of them were later released.
In Udupi : The Hindu outfits also staged a Rasta Roko agitation at Triveni Circle in the town to protest against Deepak Rao murder. Former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, President of the District unit of Mahila Morcha Sheela K Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna and several others took part in the protest.
