Mangaluru, May 1, 2017 : JD(S) District President Mohammad Kunhi has alleged that the murder of Abdul Jaleel, Vice President of Karopady Gram Panchayat was the handiwork of Hindu Jagarana Vedike activists. "The police might have used underworld don Vikky Shetty’s name to prevent the case from taking a communal twist," he suspected.
Speaking to reporters at the party office on May 1, Monday he said some of those arrested in connection with the case have links with the organisation.
He also hailed the efforts of the police in cracking the Jaleel case well as the Karthik Raj murder case reported in October last year.
Referring to the Karthik murder case wherein the police have arrested three including the sister of Karthik, Kunhi deplored the attempts earlier made by the BJP to give a communal colour to the incident.
He also wanted to know as to why the police had not initiated action against MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, who at one of the protests organised to demand the arrest of the culprits, had even made the controversial ’fire’ remark.
Reacting to State Minister UT Khader’s statement on Karthik Raj case and also his demand for action against Konaje SI, Kunhi questioned why Khader was silent on the issue all these days.
He also alleged that MLA Jammer Ahmed during his visit to the residence of Ahmed Qureshi who was allegedly subject to police torture, had tried to break the unity of the Muslim community.
MB Sadashiva, former district president of JD(S), city unit Chief Vasanth Poojary and Hyder Parthippady were present.
