Mangalore, Sep 16, 2013 : The 21st Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava organised by the Hindu Yuva Sene at the Chatrapathi Shivaji Mantap at Central Maidan in Mangalore concluded on September 15, Sunday evening with a colourful and grand Shobha Yatra.
The tastefully decorated idol of Lord Ganesha which was worshipped for a week, was taken in a procession after various religious rituals and Maha Pooja.
The procession participated by thousands of people passed through Hampankatta, Signal Circle, KS Rao Road, Navabharath Circle, Dongerkeri, New Chitra Talkies and concluded at Carstreet where the idol was immersed in the lake of Sri Mahamayee Temple.
The procession featured a number of attractive tableaux depicting historical and mythological scenes. The Kerala Chende team, the Nasik Band team and the scintillating fire works show added glitter to the function. People were seen lined up on either side of the road till late night to witness the colourful procession.
