Mangalore , sep 7, 2012 : Speaking at a special program held in commemoration of Hindi Day at Town Hall in Mangalore on Thursday, Amar Lal Daultani, executive director of Corporation Bank, spoke of the importance of Hindi and the role it plays to preserve culture and bind the people. Stating that Hindi is emerging as one of the world’s most significant languages, he said that everybody should learn Hindi.

G. Jayalal, additional director general of All India Radio and Doordarshan Southern Region, inaugurated the Hindi Day celebrations. He promised the AIR’s support for the development of Hindi.

G. Ramesh Chandran, station head of All India Radio Mangalore; P. S. Baliga, general manager of Corporation Bank; Dr. Jayanthi Prasad Nautiyal, assistant general manager; and others were also present.

Hindi Day was jointly observed by Town Official Language Implementation Committee, All India Radio, State Bank of India, and Corporation Bank.

Prizes were distributed among the winners of competitions held as part of Hindi Day celebrations.

The highlight of the event was the singing of bhajans by Mounesh Kumar Chavani and ghazals by Jithesh and a Yakshana show in Hindi by Sarayu Bala Yakshagana Kendra.
