Following intelligence reports that sleeper cells could adapt similar actions  of terrorism across the country, Karnataka State Coastal Security Police (KSCSP) has stepped up vigilance along the coast.

KSCSP sources stated that KSCSP DGP A M Prasad has passed the orders about intensifying patrolling along the coast and to be in a state of preparedness to face possible situations.

The city police have also been put on alert by intensifying beats at crowded places, including bus stands, railway stations, malls and places of tourist attraction. Physical verification of suspects staying in lodgings also has also been initiated, sources said. In the background of heightened security, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil convened a meeting of administrators of vital installations like MRPL, NMPT, Airport, malls, Infosys and religious places and so on.

He directed the institutions to have a background check on their security guards and others and  avail  police help and take a serious view of all events.
