The stay has come in the backdrop of a Public Interest Litigation filed before the High Court by  Haneef Malar, Ammi Maripalla and Ibrahim B F questioning the Mangaluru City Corporation decision to  demolish the Market building.

It may be  recalled here that the City Corporation had recently shifted the traders at Central Market to the APMC Yard at Baikampady to pave way for the demolition of the old market building and to build a full-fledged Market Complex there.
