Heavy rains in DK, Udupi : Water level in Netravathi, Kumaradhara rises

Mangaluru, June 26, 2017: Heavy rains that have been lashing various parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts since the past few days, have increased water levels  in Netravathi, Kumaradhara and Phalguni rivers.

In Dakshina Kannada district, Bantwal taluk recorded highest rainfall of 91.3 mm followed by Belthangady  which received 75.9 mm, Puttur-68 mm, Mangaluru  taluk 50.4 mm while Sullia recorded 36 mm rainfall.

In a mishap reported from Beeri-Derlakatte road during the wee hours of June 25, Sunday a bike  rider named Avinash Madoor (28) sustained injuries when a tree fell over him.

In Sastan of Kundapur taluk, water gushed into ten houses due to heavy rains.  The incident dampened Eid celebrations as most of the families which were affected were Muslims.
