Mangaluru: July 21, 2015: The Health Department on Monday raided Satvam Organic, a home-made eatable shop near Jail Road.
After getting complaints from the public, The Health department team, led by Health officer Manjaiah Shetty raided the shop.
They found that the shop was not maintaining hygiene, and found cockroaches and ants in the eatable items.
It is said that the shop owner had sprayed insecticide and many cockroaches were found dead inside the shop. The customers who saw the cockroaches in the eatable items complained to the Health department.
After the investigation the Health Officer warned the owner to shut down the shop and not to open again, also a notice was served to the shop owner for not maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in and around the shop.
The shop owner refused to shut down, and instead sold the eatable items. When the health officer learnt that shop owner had not followed the order, they once again raided in the evening and registered a complaint against the shop owner for violating the orders of Health Department.
