Even fish selling women complained that they were unaware of the inaugural. The fish market has been constructed at a cost of Rs 71 lakhs.

Several people who were opposed to the hasty inaugural had arrived at the market venue holding black flags but were persuaded by the cops not to resort to protest. They were finally allowed to submit memorandum to the minister.

The grouse of the protestors including some people’s representatives was that several of the works in the fish market were not complete. The fisherwomen said there was no water facility, toilet and even outlet for release of waste water. There was even an argument between teh cops and the protestors at one stage.

The fish market project was initiated when Kota Srinivas Poojary was the state minister.
