Hartal in Kasargod today to protest the custodial death of a youth

Kasargod, April 8,2017 : The town of Kasargod is observing a dawn to dusk Hartal today as per the call given by BJP in protest against the suspicious death of a youth named Sandeep (25) who was taken into custody by the police at Karandakkad on the charges of consuming liquor in a public place.

sandeep Though the police claim that Sandeep died of a heart attack, the family members of the youth as well as the BMS have alleged that police atrocities had resulted in his death. It is said Sandeep died while being rushed to the hospital.

Sources said the police had raided a place near Karandakkad on Friday evening following information that some youth were consuming liquor in public and harassing people.

However on seeing the cops the accused tried to flee. Sandeep who too was along with them had collapsed while running and was taken to custody. Police say he died while being rushed to the hospital.

Following the incident activists of Sangh Parivar gheraoed the Kasargod police station and demanded action against the cops responsible for Sandeep’s death.
