Mangaluru May 16, 2016: District in Charge Minister Ramanath Rai said Yettinahole is an ongoing project which is hard to stop. While saying so he was referring to the protest against Yettinahole project organised by the Nethravathi Rakshana Vedike.
Addressing the media at Circuit House on May 16, Rai said though the government has taken the initiative to conduct a review meeting to hold discussions about the project, those against the project have failed to make it to the meeting.
Stating that the administration has initiated all possible measures to solve the drinking water problem, Rai said the decrease in rainfall by 21% last year was the reason behind the water scarcity that has hit the city. The second vented dam construction will be completed in a month’s time, he added. The Minister also stated that steps have been taken to provide compensation to those whose lands will be submerged due to the project.
State Health Minister UT Khader, Mayor Harinath, DK Interim Congress President Ibrahim Kodijaal and others were present
