Moodbidri, Feb 16, 2016: In an incident that took place in Beluvai that came to light on Feb 15, Monday morning, serious assaults between migrant labourers ended in the death of one person.
The deceased is identified as Shiva (30), son of Balappa, a resident of Ilakal in Bagalkote. He was employed as a loader at a stone quarry here, owned by a person named Chethana.
Those said to be involved in the crime are Rangappa and Kumar who work at the same stone quarry and Rajkumar, employed in a local bar. According to reports, a fight erupted between Rajkumar’s father Mangalappa, Kumar and Shiva in Beluvai market the previous day. Further, another brawl occurred in the night at Madakapale, the area where they stay. These men in an inebriated state, allegedly hit Shiva with a stick and he died.
Rajkumar, Rangappa and Kumar have been taken into police custody. Investigation is underway, police sources informed. Moodbidri Circle Inspector Ananthapadmanabha has registered a case.
