Hamid Fazal Koyamma Tangal to take charge as Ullal Qazi on Mar 13

Mangalore, Mar 1, 2014 :   Assayyid Hamid Fazal Koyamma Tangal Madani Koorat has been chosen as the new Qazi of Ullal. Popularly known as ‘Koora Tangal’ he is the son  of  Tajul Ulema Assayyid Abdurrahman Al Bukhari Ullal Tangal, the previous Qazi who passed away recently. The new Qazi will take charge on March 13.

This was informed to reporters here on February 28, Friday  by  U S Hamza, President of the  Ullal Darga Management Committee. He said  the decision to appoint the new Qazi was taken at the annual general meeting of the  members from 28 Mohallas under Ullal Dargah and added that it was a unanimous decision.

 UT Ilyas,  General Secretary of the Ullal Darga Managing Committee, Ashraf Ahmed, its Vice President and others were present at the press meet.

Meanwhile, it has been gathered that the appointment of new Qazi has been opposed  by the Jamaats of Melangady and Kotepura.  Sources say they want the post to go either to Atakoya Tangal, the son-in-law of the departed Qazi or  the Udupi Qazi  Bekal Ibrahim Musliyar. It has also been gathered that the two jamaats have plans to have their own Qazi.
