Udupi, July 2, 2014 : Udupi District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Ramachandra Bayiri has said that a total of 43 cases of H1N1 (Swine Flu) were reported in the district from January to June 30 this year. Seven persons have died due to the disease, he informed.
He was participating in the Health Department meeting held here on July 1, Tuesday under the presidentship of Additional DC Kumar. A total of 22 cases were reported from Udupi town of whom four have died. In Karkala three cases and one death was reported, while in Kundapur a total of 15 cases were reported and of the patients has died, informed District Surveillance Officer Dr Rohini.
She also informed that the district had sufficient stock of medicines and added that early detection would help in early cure.
The meeting also deliberated upon the condition of ventilators in private and government hospitals.
District Health Officer also informed that the malaria menace was on the rise due to rain playing truant. He further urged the public to maintain cleanliness of surroundings.
The meeting was also informed that 34 leprosy cases were reported from the district.
