Mangaluru, May 4, 2015: It is strange case of both the culprit and the Good Samaritan, who tried taking law into his own hands, lands in jail with law keepers in toe.
On Saturday night near Liquid Lounge Pub in Balmatta Road, one youth groped a female medical student. Her male friend chased him all along the road and finally both have landed in police custody.
Sanjay Das (22), hailing from Assam and employed in a fast-food joint on Light-house hill, reportedly groped medical student who was standing on the footpath near the pub.
Her friend Harshil Shetty (23), a resident of Kalpane Kulshekar, chased him until Light-house hill where Sanjay said to be took shelter in the fast-food joint.
Furious Shetty questioned the owner for protecting an offender when the culprit found not traceable. Police arrived as usual late when both Shetty and others exchanged words.
The beat police tried to pacify them and elicit information. Shetty is said to have told them that there is no police intervention needed and he would deal with Sanjay himself.
This remarks angered the police and police took him too into custody besides Sanjay. They are sent to 14 days judicial custody when they were produced before the JMFC court.
