Udupi, Jan 15, 2016: Makara Sankramana Day on January 14 which is the beginning day of Uttarayana considered to be an auspicious occasion was marked by several rituals and religious festivities at Carstreet in the temple town. Three tastefully decorated chariots were pulled by devotees who had gathered with great enthusiasm on the occasion of Choornotsava.
The idol of Prana Devaru was installed in the small chariot and that of Lord Anantheshwara in next chariot followed by the idols of Sri Krishna and Mukhyaprana in the third chariot.
Ashta Mutt seers including Sri Vishwa Prasanna Theertha Swamiji, the junior pontiff of Pejawar Mutt, Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Kaniyoor Mutt, Sri Vidyasagara Theertha Swamiji of Krishnapura Mutt, Sri Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji of Admar Mutt ,Sri Vidyadheesha Swamiji of Phalimar Mutt, Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt, Sri Vishwavallabha Teertha Swamiji of Sode Mutt and others were present on the occasion.
