Govt package for Naxal hit areas not effectively used, alleges tribal leader

Mangalore, Jan 6, 2014: At the SC ST Grievance Redressal Meeting held on January 5, Sunday, there was heard a complaint that the package announced by the government for the development of 12 Naxal affected villages of Belthangady taluk was not being  effectively implemented.

Raising the issue, tribal leader Sudhaker   urged the Police Department to write to the government to convert the scheme as a package for development of tribal areas. Referring to the recruitment of as many as 15 tribal youth to the Home Guards under the Package, he urged the police department to ensure that their wages  should reach their hands by the fifth of every month. He also urged for an impartial probe into the case of a fire mishap in which a car belonging to Ramachandra Bhat was gutted and said the Malekudiyas were viewed with an eye of suspicion in this case.
