Govt must take responsibility to trace missing girls of the state: Mamatha Yadav

Mangalore, Jan 9, 2014: Jagruti Mahila Vedike organized a massive protest meet at Nehru Maidan on Jan 9, Thursday demanding probe into Deralakatte blackmail incident.


ABVP National Secretary, Mamatha Yadav from Haryana said that though it is the protest meet to demand justice to a women, men in large number have gathered to support and raise their voices and get justice for women.


She also said that even though the crime rates against women are increasing day by day in the country, government is not showing any interest to punish the culprits. In this case the police officials have taken great initiative to investigate the case and arrest the culprits; they have failed to take action against them due to the pressure of political influence.

Mamatha also said that from the year 2009 to 2011, around 24,000 girls went missing from Karnataka. Government must take responsibility to trace these missing girls or else  must quit functioning.


Delivering the introductory speech, Advocate Asha Prasad said that the Deralakatte case of Kidnap, rape, forced sex and blackmail is a heinous crime took place with a medical student on December 17. But still the arrested eight accused are not charged with the IPC sections for crime.


She also said that the innocent students was forced into sex from 11 pm to 9 am, but still the police officials have not conducted the medical examination of the student.


During the Home stay attack and pub attack, various organizations and women’s commission reached city and staged protest, demanding to impose Goonda Act on the Hindu activists who have interfered the obscene incident taking place with Hindu girls in the name of Birthday party. But where these womens commission when the innocent girl need justice, she added.


Addressing the gathering ABVP district Vidhyarthi Pramukh Ashwini said that no girl or women in the present era expect to be worshipped, but just ask for their safety and independence.


She also said that people say the dress worn by the girls leads to rape, if this was the situation, why was Sowjanya of Ujire raped and murdered. 


Speaking on the Delhi’s Nirbhaya case, various organizations protested and demanded justice and it took a year to get justice, likewise Derlakatte case will also take time to deliver justice. But our silence will help the culprits to close down the case. These culprits must be severely punished in a fast track court.


She also said that in the name of ’love jihad’, large number of young Hindu girls is being trafficked to Arab countries. Girls are not so cheap to be taken as a commodity of enjoyment.

 

Dr Kamala Prabhakar Bhat, Honorary president of Jagratha Mahila Vedike administered the oath to the gathering.


MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, MLC Monappa Bhandary, Ganesh Karnik, S Ramesh, Mallika Prasad, Jagadish Shenava, BJP president Prathap Simha Nayak, former BJP president Padmanabha Kottary, S R Leela, and others were present on the occasion.


Prior to the protest meet thousands of students from various colleges along with men and women took out a rally from Ambedkar circle to Nehru Maidan.
