Mangalore, June 16, 2013: Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader  has said that the Congress government cannot  do much regarding the Netravathi river diversion project as it has already been initiated by the previous BJP government in the  name of Ettinahole project. The budget has been approved and the tender process complete, he said

He was speaking after responding to a felicitation conferred  on him  along with District Minister Ramanatha Rai and other newly elected MLAs on  behalf of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry on June 15, Saturday.

He said now the need of the hour is  how  best  we can ensure that the interests of the district are protected in the days to come.

Ramanatha Rai who also spoke, said the four-laning of the Mangalore-Hassan road has been approved  by the Centre. On the sorry state of the Shiradi Ghat stretch, he  said talks are underway with the Japan government with regard to constructing a tunnel way here. He said the government will leave no stone unturned in developing Shiradi Ghat Stretch of Road.

Legislators JR Lobo, Moidin Bava, Abhayachandra Jain were also honoured on behalf of the KCCI on the occasion.
