Government plans to introduce 104 Mobile Hospital: Minister-Sriramulu

Mangalore, Feb 10: State Health Minister B Sriramulu visited Wenlock Hospital on Feb 9, Tuesday and said that the government will introduce the 104 Mobile Hospital in Karnataka to complement the already successful 108 Arogya Kavacha ambulance service.

Interacting with media people during his visit, the minister said that the 104 Mobile Hospitals will be introduced after the required funds are allotted to the project during the next budget. The 104 is meant to be a small hospital within a vehicle. All the required medical tests can be conducted within the same vehicle, said the minister, adding that the service is already operating in other states of India. After the introduction of the 104 Mobile Hospital, people can just dial 104 to avail of medical services.













Speaking about the popularity and huge success of the 108 Ambulance Service, the minister said that the ambulance has been of great help to around 3,10,000 people. Currently, there is a demand for 517 such vehicles, of which around 408 have already been provided and the rest will be soon provided, he assured.

Speaking about the Vajpayee Arogya Shri Medical Scheme, which has already been implemented on a trial in 5 districts, the minister said that the scheme will be implemented in other districts as soon as the required funds are allotted during the next budget.

He also informed press people that the government will post 2,000 new doctors, which will cover up 40 percent of the workforce requirements in government hospitals.

After visiting the District Surveillance Center, which is the only testing lab in Dakshina Kannada near Wenlock, the minister said that the district health officer will be suspended for the pathetic condition of the laboratory. A show cause notice will be duly served on him and he will have to respond within a week. The minister expressed concern over the poor condition of Wenlock Hospital.

Before his visit to Mangalore, the minister had participated in a programme in Sullia and visited the government hospital in Puttur.
