Mangalore, July 11, 2013 : In a rather queer mishap, a goods train which was stationed at the MCF Yard at Panambur all of a sudden moved on the reverse and entered the National Highway 66 on July 10, Wednesday.
The train was stationed at the yard to load chemical fertilizers. It is believed that the train moved backwards when the coupling joints between the engine and compartments snapped.
Though usually, the security personnel of MCF close the gates in advance whenever a goods train arrives to ensure smooth passage of the train, this time the gate was not closed and neither the security personnel were present.
The train staff rushed to the spot immediately and applied brakes to avert any untoward incident.
