Chicago, Sep 14, 2019: VEEZ Konkani Global Illustrated Weekly e-Magazine was till early September being published in Konkani with Kannada script  from Chicago, USA under the baton of the ’Konkani Lover’ as it’s sole editor and compiler,  hailing from Mangalore city and who migrated to the US in the 1970s - Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu. A very well known personality in Mangalurean circles the world over and much decorated with even a street being named after him in Chicago. Dr. Austin, known to be a very busy person traveling around the world on the move most of the time. Yet, with 88 issues week after week he never missed a single publication of ’Veez Konkani’.

 

     
Now, in it’s 89th week/issue  Veez Konkani has taken an unprecedented ’Avtaar’ - miraculously it is getting published in four scripts, which are most popular for this dialect, for the first time in history it is getting published in 4 scripts - Kannada, Romi, Devnagari and Malayalam. Veez Konkani is already an extraordinary attraction,  popular among young and old throughout the world and voices Konkani sentiments to the admiration and appreciation of a wide reader base.  Dr. Austin Prabhu on September 13, Friday, from USA states that presently the Veez E-magazine is  emailed to near 4000 people, 60 plus Face groups and hundreds of Facebook pages, and shared through many social platforms too. It is also carried by web portals in Mangaluru and is widely appreciated world wide by Konkani people of all hues. In view of the response he has expanded it in the 4 major scripts used for Konkani dialects, it is seen as a pioneer effort for Konkani.

Lion Dr. Austin Prabhu US based well known Mangalurean, a leading Konkani litterateur who has written plays, books and regular contributor to a wide range of Konkani print and electronic publications, also is the editor publisher of the popular first ’Konkani Electronic Magazine’ on-line - VEEZ .  He started editing and publishing Veez Konkani Illustrated Weekly e-Magazine which has worldwide readers in many countries where Mangaloreans live.  This e-Magazine generally has an average of 80 pages per every week. A member of St. Bernardine’s Parish, member of Forest Park Chamber Commerce, member of Citizens’ Police Academy, member Neighborhood Watch, Commissioner of Forest Park Diversity Commission and its secretary, and a member of The Forest Kala Sampath Lions Club.

 Few of the recent awards: Dr. Lion Austin D’Souza received “District 1A Citizen of the Year Award, 2018.” On March 25, 2018 during  District 1A 50 th Convention. He is one of the members of US President Donald Trump’s Advisory Board and US President’s Life Member, Order of Merit. Honored at the Gulf Voice of Mangalore-6 in Kuwait with a title: “Konkan Karavallicho Veer” on November 9, 2018.
