Gas tanker-lorry collision near Farangipete; driver injured

Mangalore, Jan 23, 2014: The driver of an HPCL gas tanker sustained injuries when his tanker rammed against a sand laden lorry from the rear end on the National Highway near Farangipete on January 23, Thursday.
The tanker was heading from Mangalore when the mishap took place. According to eyewitnesses, the tanker hit the lorry when the driver of the latter applied brakes all of a sudden.
The injured tanker driver Mariyappan (53) has been admitted to a private hospital. Even fire tender vehicles rushed to the spot to avert any gas leakage from the tanker. Traffic too was disrupted on the route for some time following the accident.
