Free college education for girls from next year : R.V. Deshpande

 Belthangady, Feb 26, 2014: State Minister for Higher Education RV Deshpande inaugurated the new Block for Post Graduate courses at the SDM College, Ujire on February 25, Tuesday. The block has come up at a cost of Rs 30 crores.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the state government intended to offer free college education to girls in government and aided colleges from next academic year. He also informed that in case of aided colleges, the educational cost of female students will be borne by the state. He also spoke about the government plans to encourage more and more students to take up higher education.  Deshpande further urged youth to take to self employment instead of  searching for a job.

Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, presided over the function.

  Prof. T. C. Shivashankera Murthy, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University,  Hemavathi V Heggade. Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, Dr B Yashovarma, Principal of SDM College and others were present.
