Udupi, Nov 25, 2019: Karnataka State Coastal Security Police rescued 4 fishermen from Malpe who were stranded on a fishing vessel ’Srileela’ near Netrani island in Uttara Kannada on November 24, Sunday.
The fishing boat had developed cracks in it’s hull after the diesel tank created a hole due to wrong installation. As a result, water started gushing inside the boat and it began sinking at around 5.15 am on Sunday. The fishermen sensing the danger sounded an SOS and the team of Karnataka State Coastal Security Police launched the rescue operation. The team rushed with an interceptor boat and rescued fishermen Anand Mogera, Guru Kharvi, Manjunath and Ramesh. The boat sunk later.
