Mangalore, Mar 25, 2014: Former president Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will be visiting Mangalore on April 1 as part of a voter awareness programme. He will be addressing first time voters at the ZP auditorium on that day from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
Informing this to reporters here, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim said the former president is visiting Mangalore as part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme and will enlighten young voters on ethical voting. He will also interact with students.
The Deputy Commissioner further said over 100 institutions including degree and professional colleges have been requested to send two representatives (a boy and a girl) each to the programme. Students in the age group of 18 and 20 participating in the programme should have an authorisation letter from their institution and also their EPIC, the DC said.
He said efforts would be made to air the programme live with the help of local channels. Colleges have also been requested to make arrangements for their students to watch the programme.
