Bengaluru, April 8, 2016: Former Director-General of Police Bipin Gopalakrishna passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Thursday morning. Gopalakrishna, who retired as DGP CID, was suffering from a prolonged illness over the past few years.
Before becoming DGP CID, he had served in the STF and as ADGP (law and order). His body will be cremated at Wilson Garden at around 1 p.m.
He was a 1982 batch of IPS officer, hailing from Nellur in Adhra Pradesh. He had served as SP of Udupi and Mangalore. He had also served as IGP -Western range.
The first issue of Mangalore Today- English Magazine was released by him in 1996 when he was serving as IGP western range.
